Whakapapa Ski Area offers an awesome array of slopes for skiers and riders of all levels. Happy Valley is one of NZ’s premier beginner areas, the intermediate slopes challenge you with chutes, bumps, bowls and drops on nice wide runs and there are 24 black and black diamond runs to thrill even the most hard core snow lover. Whakapapa is located on the north western slopes of Mt Ruapehu.
With the largest lift accessed terrain and highest lift in NZ and the longest Vertical descent in Australasia, Mt Ruapehu provides more terrain, more choice and more freedom.
The north island ski areas Whakapapa and Turoa have the best access roads of any New Zealand ski area and are even suitable for those guest travelling in motorhomes. Located only 4 hours south of Auckland, Mt Ruapehu is the place to go to experience what is it is like to ski or ride an active volcano.
