Skyline Gondola Queenstown

Hurtle down a winding downhill track through the pine trees. Race through the bends, or pull in for a breather and enjoy the panorama from one of the stopping bays. Burn it up on the fast track or cruise sedately down the scenic track. Then hop on the chairlift and do it all again. Skyline Luge – it’s 800 metres of fast-paced freedom. Once is never enough! From grandkids to grandparents – the Skyline Luge is fun filled gravity ride for all ages and abilities!

Take in the impressive views and explore the facilities and attractions before heading up the chairlift to the start zone of the Skyline Luge. The Queenstown Luge is a unique wheeled gravity ride that provides riders full control over their descent on two purpose built tracks, scenic or advanced. Enjoy five Luge rides at your own pace before riding the Gondola back down to earth.

Opening hours

Skyline Gondola Queenstown is open daily from 9.00am until late. Luge hours are from 10.00am – 5pm mid winter, subject to weather conditions. Luge track closes at 5pm (21 May – 22 Jul), 5.30pm (23 Jul – 26 Aug) & 6pm (27 Aug – 29 Sep) – times may vary due to demand and daylight hours.

Minimum height requirements

Minimum height of 110cm tall to ride Luge scenic track solo. Minimum height of 135cm tall to ride both Luge tracks solo. Those under Luge minimum height can ride Luge in tandem with accompanying adult.

The Skyline Stratosfare Restaurant serves up a mouth watering Taste of New Zealand buffet of legendary proportions. Feast on South Island salmon, seafood, salads, roast meats and delicious desserts – and feast your eyes on the most spectacular scenery in the country. Tiered seating guarantees stunning views from every table!

Lunch dining times: 11.30am, 11.45am, 12.00pm, 12.15pm, 12.30pm, 1.15pm and 1.30pm. Bookings are essential.

Dinner dining times: 4.30pm, 4.45pm, 5.00pm, 6.30pm, 6.45pm, 7.00pm, 8.30pm and 8.45pm. Strict 90 minutes time limit on all tables (exception 8.30pm and 8.45pm – no time limit). Allow at least 20 minutes (40 mins in peak periods) for travel up the gondola prior to dinner.
