Skier on a groomed run at Coronet Peak ski area

5 Things that Make Coronet Peak One of New Zealand’s Best Ski Fields

1. Closest Ski Field to Queenstown

You know you’re onto a good thing when you can get from the bright lights of our most popular resort town to the slopes in just 25 minutes. Less time on the road means you can squeeze the most out of every minute of your ski holiday.

2. Renovated Base Facilities

Multimillion dollar renovations have upgraded the base facilities to a true world-class standard, and the architecturally-designed building is the beating heart of the ski field. Take a breather and admire the mind-blowing views across the valley. Here you’ll find excellent food to fuel the machine; inside at the café or licensed restaurant, or at Substation on the heated outdoor deck. The retail outlet sells gear and essentials, and you can even hire equipment.

3. Night Skiing

Coronet Peak is the only commercial ski field in the South island with night skiing! Late nights on the mountain are Friday and Saturday, and this year it just gets better with the addition of Wednesday evenings in July. Make a night of it with tracks open until 9:00 pm, and the restaurant pumping out bar snacks and meals at great prices. Because sometimes a day on the snow just isn’t enough.

4. Family Fun

Skiwiland is Coronet Peak’s registered early learning centre, with qualified teachers to care for your little treasures (three months to five years old) while you’re out there shredding it. Kids aged 5-15 years can join the Kea Club, an awesome all-day group lesson programme; a great way for them to make new friends and have a grand old time learning a few tricks of their own. Head to the tubing lane for a snowy activity all ages can enjoy. A New Zealand ski holiday with the family has never looked better.

5. Great Lifts

Access all areas of the mountain – no muss, no fuss – with a range of lifts that do exactly what they say on the box. A six-seater lift, two high-speed quad chairs, and a T-bar cover all intermediate and advanced tracks, with four conveyors for the learner’s area. The T-bar drive has been upgraded, ensuring a smoother and more reliable ride to access Rocky Gully.
